Hungarian National Championships Mark Kristof Milak’s Return to Competition

Kristof Milak, the world record holder and 24-year-old swimmer, is set to make his return to competition at the 2024 Hungarian National Championships from April 9th to April 12th. During the Olympic-qualifying event, Milak will compete in six events, including the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle events as well as the 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly. Despite being out of the pool since last year’s Hungarian Championships, Milak already holds Olympic Qualification Times in two events: the 100m (50.80) and 200m fly (1:52.58).

Milak resumed training in mid-January and aims to be in his best form for the Paris Olympic Games. Among other athletes to watch at the Hungarian national championships are Zalan Sarkany, who holds the PAC-12 conference record with a time of 14:23.01 in men’s 1650y freestyle at the championships; Nikolett Padar; Gabor Zombori; and Boglarka Kapas.

Key entries for men include David Betlehem in multiple freestyle events ranging from 200m to 1500m IM, Balazs Hollo in both breaststroke and fly events as well as butterfly; while Kristof Milak is set to compete in multiple freestyle and butterfly events. For women, key entries include Katalin Burian in backstroke events; Boglarka Kapas in IM, fly, and freestyle events; Nikolett Padar has entries ranging from breaststroke to backstroke events.
