Despite only converting 1 out of 3 red zone opportunities, the 49ers are currently leading the Buccaneers 13-7 at halftime. The team relied on field goals from Jake Moody, as well as a 4-yard touchdown reception from Christian McCaffrey, to score in their final two possessions. With a total of 201 yards in the first half, the 49ers have been able to keep up with the Buccaneers despite their struggles in the red zone.
Brock Purdy had an impressive performance in the first half, completing 14 out of 17 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown. Christian McCaffrey also made a significant impact with his contributions of 10 touches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Aiyuk also played well with four receptions for 80 yards.
On the other hand, the Buccaneers have struggled so far with only tallied 115 yards in the first half. Their only scoring drive produced just 70 of those yards, and Mike Evans scored on a rare touchdown reception from Baker Mayfield’s pass that hit him right before he went down. Mayfield had an average performance, completing eight out of ten passes for just eighty yards and a touchdown but also fumbled the ball on a hit by Fred Warner which was recovered by Clelin Ferrell.
