Six athletes from Alabama Swimming and Diving selected for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

The Alabama swimming and diving team had six members named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Diana Petkova and Jake Marcum received the honor for the second consecutive year, while Bernardo Bondra de Almeida, Mackenzie Brandt, Tim Korstanje, and Kailyn Winter were named all-district recipients for the first time in their careers.

Mackenzie Brandt holds a perfect 4.0 in communicative disorders, while Diana Petkova and Jake Marcum were recognized for their outstanding academic performance. Bernardo Bondra de Almeida’s season was highlighted by a career-best performance in the 100 butterfly, which ranked him fourth all-time in program history.

On the men’s side, Tim Korstanje helped pace the 400 freestyle relay team to Second Team All-America honors at the national meet. Jake Marcum earned a spot in both the 100 and 200 backstroke at the NCAA Championships and posted a ninth-place finish in the 200 backstroke at the Southeastern Conference Championships. Kailyn Winter finished the season as a two-time Second Team All-America honoree, earning the honor as a member of both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
