Armand Duplantis Sets New World Record in Diamond League Pole Vault Event as Women’s Events Impress

In the first Diamond League meeting of the 2024 season, Armand Duplantis set a new world record in the pole vault event with a jump of 6.24 meters. This marked his eighth time breaking the world record in this event, surpassing his previous best of 6.23 meters. The Swedish athlete demonstrated exceptional form, effortlessly clearing the bar before celebrating his achievement with a leap off the sponge mat.

Duplantis has already won two world outdoor championships and a world indoor title and is now gearing up for the Paris Olympics later in the year. Marileidy Paulino of Dominican Republic claimed victory in the women’s 400m race in 50.08 seconds while leading a competitive field that included athletes from Poland and United States. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico dominated the women’s 100m hurdles event, cruising to a first-place finish in 12.45 seconds.
