Ballet Shoes: A Grand Stage Premiere for London’s National Theatre

In the upcoming fall, London’s National Theatre will stage a world premiere adaptation of Noel Streatfeild’s beloved book Ballet Shoes. Written by Kendall Feaver and directed by Katy Rudd, who previously helmed The Ocean at the End of the Lane at the National, this family-friendly show promises to bring the story to life on stage.

Ballet Shoes follows three adopted sisters, Pauline, Petrova, and Posy, who live in a dilapidated house filled with dinosaur bones and fossils under the care of their guardians Sylvia, Nana, and some unexpected lodgers. As they journey to discover their identities and pursue their individual passions, these sisters face many challenges along the way.

The creative team behind this production includes set design by Frankie Bradshaw, costume design by Samuel Wyer, choreography by Ellen Kane, composition by Asaf Zohar, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design by Ian Dickinson, and casting by Bryony Jarvis-Taylor. Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre, expressed excitement for audiences to experience this classic story in a new and ambitious theatrical production.

Tickets for Ballet Shoes will be available to the general public starting May 2. For more information and to purchase tickets visit the National Theatre’s website at NationalTheatre.org.uk.
