On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed a law that was approved by the Senate the previous day. The legislation provides military aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific region, including Taiwan. In addition, it mandates ByteDance to sell TikTok within a year in order to prevent its ban in the country. The aid package includes $60 billion for Ukraine and $26.4 billion for Israel. Biden stated that this was a significant day for the United States, Europe, and world peace.
Following the signing of the law, Biden announced that the US would begin sending air defense ammunition, artillery for rocket systems, and armored vehicles to Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that the first weapons package worth $1 billion had been shipped, which included air defense missiles, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons. In response to the ultimatum to sell TikTok, China reiterated its previous stance and accused the US of using intimidation tactics.
TikTok’s CEO Shou Zi Chew released a video statement saying that the company would appeal the US government’s decision and was confident of a positive outcome. Meanwhile on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram there are discussions about increasing social media presence by buying likes or maximizing online visibility through different platforms with diverse range of topics covering strategies for engaging audiences and growing online influence.
