Brazilian Horror-Drama ‘Continent’ Takes the Stage at Munich International Film Festival

The horror-drama Continent has released its official trailer, leading up to its world premiere at the Munich International Film Festival. Directed and written by Davi Pretto, this coproduction between Brazil, France, and Argentina is set to be a suspenseful journey through a small Brazilian village.

Amanda, played by Olivia Torres, is on her way back to her childhood home in a remote village where her father is dying. As she travels through the lush countryside of Brazil, she passes by a car with one of its passengers commenting that it looks like the South of France. Another passenger disagrees and says it appears sad.

As Amanda arrives in the village, she finds herself entangled in an unusual inheritance linked to a secret held by the villagers. Tensions begin to rise as she becomes more and more involved in the mystery surrounding her family’s past.

This film marks Pretto’s third feature film and his fourth overall project. His fourth film, Future Future, is currently undergoing post-production. The movie was shot primarily in Portugal and French languages but also took place in Brazil during production. Continent is produced by Vulcana Cinema along with Dublin Films, Murillo Cine, and Pasto. Lights On from Italy will handle sales for the film at Munich International Film Festival before its worldwide release later this year.

Overall, Continent promises to be an intriguing exploration of family secrets and loss set against the backdrop of rural Brazilian life. Its release at Munich International Film Festival will undoubtedly attract attention from critics and audiences alike who are eagerly anticipating this thrilling new addition to Pretto’s body of work.
