At approximately 11:00 PM, the Contra Costa Health hazardous materials team was dispatched to respond to a fire at Martinez Renewable Fuels (Marathon Refinery). The potential impact on surrounding areas led to the issuance of a public health advisory for Martinez, Pacheco, Concord and Clyde. People were advised to visit for more information.

However, shortly after the public health advisory was issued, the fire at Martinez Renewable Fuels was brought under control. As a result, the public health advisory for these areas was lifted. In an update on their website at 3:54 a.m., CCH reported a flaring incident at Marathon Martinez that may be visible to the surrounding community. Later that day, they issued an “all clear” message indicating that the situation had been resolved.
