Barcelona has been approached by Paris Saint-Germain with an offer of €250m for Lamine Yamal. The young striker, who is not even 17 years old, has been in excellent form for both Barcelona and Spain in the 2023/24 season. PSG is reportedly interested in signing him as they search for a successor to Kylian Mbappe.
According to a report, PSG is willing to pay a world-record transfer fee to sign Yamal from Barcelona. The club needs funds to continue operating at their current level, but they are adamant about keeping the talented youngster. Barcelona has faced a similar situation before when PSG paid a world-record fee of €222m for Neymar in 2017.
Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, revealed that an unnamed club offered €200m for Yamal earlier in the year. The mystery bidder was later identified as PSG, who are said to be still interested in signing the young talent as they search for a successor to Kylian Mbappe. Yamal’s contract with Barcelona includes a release clause set at an astronomical €1bn, far beyond what PSG is willing to pay. The youngster is content at Barcelona and his agent, Jorge Mendes, is pleased with the club’s development plans for him.
