The Florida Gators football program is facing a challenging lineup of opponents in the 2024 season, especially with the addition of the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners to their schedule. Many believe that their schedule will be one of the most difficult in the fall.
Andy Staples, an analyst on On3, discussed the challenges faced by the Gators’ schedule during his streaming channel. He pointed out that Florida got the shortest end of the stick when it comes to equality among schools in the Southeastern Conference. Staples highlighted that Florida’s slate includes tough matchups against Miami, UCF, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss and Florida State again.
Staples emphasized that while parity is essential for fair scheduling in college football, it doesn’t seem to be present in SEC scheduling. He noted how teams like Texas and Oklahoma have an easier schedule than Florida due to their location and reputation. Despite this challenge, Staples stated that the Gators will still face some tough opponents this season and will have to work hard to overcome them.
The Gators’ 2024 season opener is against Miami on August 31 in Gainesville, Florida. The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC Sports. Fans can follow ongoing coverage of Florida Gators news and updates by following @GatorsWire on X and liking their page on Facebook.
