China Dominates Night 1 with Two Medals

The 2024 World Aquatic Championships in Doha kicked off with China leading the medal table after Day 1. The Chinese women’s team made history by winning silver in the women’s 400 freestyle, while their men’s 4×100 free relay team captured gold, breaking a new World Record.

South Korea and New Zealand each had one gold medal apiece, with South Korea upsetting Australia in the women’s 4×100 free relay and New Zealand’s Erika Fairweather setting a new national record in the women’s 400 freestyle.

The Netherlands, Germany, and Canada all had two medals each, with Germany winning silver and bronze in various events. The United States also had one bronze medal.
