The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) recently announced the winners of the 49th Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards. The awards recognize organizations with an active presence in Baltimore that have shown significant leadership and commitment to improving the city’s quality of life.
This year, there are 14 winners, including a diverse range of businesses and organizations such as the B&O Railroad Museum, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and UnitedHealthcare. The GBC revamped the awards program to acknowledge companies and organizations exemplifying at least one of five categories: economic opportunity, ambassador for Baltimore Region, local investment, supporting safe and vibrant communities, and community redevelopment.
In addition to recognizing exceptional businesses and organizations, the GBC also introduced a multiyear agenda at its May annual meeting. Following a merger with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, the organization now has a combined role in shaping the region’s economic future and driving collective impact for over 500 businesses and organizations committed to the region. The initiatives mainly focus on areas such as economic opportunity, transportation and infrastructure, and collective impact.
The winners will be celebrated at an event on December 13 at the M&T Bank Exchange at the France Merrick Performing Arts Center in Baltimore.
