CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Immediately after months of preparation, a Clay County student has an experiment heading to the international space station!

Action News Jax had a opportunity to speak with that student’s father this afternoon who says he is proud of what his daughter has accomplished!

“There is no describing how I really feel,” says Michael Torkzad.

Torkzad’s 13-year-old daughter Celine who is a student at St. Johns Nation Day College is undertaking anything that not quite a few individuals her age can say they’ve carried out

Flying 1 of her science experiments to outer space! She worked on the project with other students and it was all thanks to the four-H Youth Improvement Plan and Greater Orbits.

“Her group won the notion of obtaining an investigation carried out on spirulina,” says Torkzad.

Torkzad tells me spirulina is an algae, and his daughter is flying it to space to see how it operates

“This algae is incredibly higher and wealthy in protein. so the notion is that how do we sustain reside protein for astronauts why they are in space,” says Torkzad.

Tonight, Torkzad Action News Jax.  He’s proud of the tough function the students place in to make this come about, and he’s excited about their future.

“The influence it has on a child’s life. Oh, appear you have to function tough and if you function tough, and you place your work into it you will reach anything,” says Torkzad.

Torzad tells Action News Jax he saw the rocket laugh from a hotel rooftop, and it will be a lifetime expertise.
