Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff have been hit with a rough patch in their recruiting efforts. After starting strong in the 2025 cycle, top targets on Clemson’s radar have been committing to other schools, leaving the Tigers in need of additional talent for their upcoming class. On the 4th of July, another disappointment occurred when 4-star WR Samari Reed from Monarch, FL announced his commitment to Ole Miss, leaving Clemson without a wide receiver for their class. According to Rivals rankings, Reed was the No. 149 overall player in the class and the No. 30 player at his position, making him a significant loss for the Tigers.
Despite this setback, Clemson remains optimistic about its recruiting efforts and is focusing on flipping former Ole Miss commit Dillon Alfred, who is currently their top wide receiver target remaining in the class. The coaching staff hopes that they can secure Alfred’s commitment and add him to their 2025 roster.
While recent disappointments may have slowed down their progress, Clemson continues to work hard to bring in top talent for the upcoming season. With just weeks left until National Signing Day, it will be interesting to see if they can overcome this rough patch and secure enough commitments to make up for lost ground.
