Accelerating Action to Close the Gender Gap in Science

In recent years, despite some progress, the gender disparity in the field of science remains a persistent issue, with only one in three researchers being women globally. This ongoing problem is due to numerous barriers that female scientists continue to face, which can discourage girls from pursuing scientific careers and hinder the progress of women in the field.

To address these barriers and build on key findings and recommendations from previous events, an event will be held in celebration of the 2024 International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event will be organized in collaboration with L’Association fédérative nationale des étudiant.e.s universitaires scientifiques (AFNEUS), and it will unveil the UNESCO Call for Action “Closing the gender gap in science.” Additionally, this event will provide valuable insights on initiatives, resources, and best practices to put the Call for Action into practice.
