Another scandal surfaces at controversial New Jersey school: Family business profit from uniforms at the cost of taxpayers

College Achieve Public Schools is a school located at 508 3rd Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The school has recently come under scrutiny due to the actions of a husband-and-wife team who run the school and allegedly used their family-owned business to produce school apparel at taxpayer expense. This behavior violates New Jersey school ethics laws, as found by an NJ Advance Media investigation conducted on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

According to sources familiar with the school’s operations, officials used another closed store as an intermediary to conceal the work being done by the family-owned business. Invoices obtained by NJ Advance Media show that purchases totaling $143,274 were made between December 2021 and January 2024 in this manner, raising concerns about the school’s financial practices.
