Deadly West Nile Fever: 4 Deaths, 48 Cases Reported as Mosquitoes Spread Virus

Four people have died from West Nile fever, a virus that is transmitted by mosquitoes. The Ministry of Health has reported 48 cases, with 36 hospitalized and five on ventilators. Most cases are mild, but severe illness can occur. Symptoms include fever, headache, weakness, joint and muscle pain, rash, nausea, and diarrhea. In severe cases, neurological symptoms such as meningitis and acute encephalitis may occur.

Prevention through mosquito repellents, window nets, and reporting mosquito clusters to authorities is key. Warning signs that require prompt medical attention after a mosquito bite include prolonged fever, vomiting, decreased urination, rapid breathing
