Walt Disney World’s Test Track has recently closed to make way for the next-generation version of the popular EPCOT thrill ride. The attraction shut down on Sunday, June 16, with construction walls already in place to block off the pavilion entrance. A Test Track poster with the tagline “Coming Soon” is displayed on the front construction wall. Disney has not yet announced an official reopening date for the new version of Test Track, but it is estimated that the ride will remain closed for at least a year.
Imagineers, in collaboration with Chevrolet, are drawing inspiration from the original World of Motion attraction to create a renewed sense of optimism for the updated Test Track experience at EPCOT. As part of Chevrolet’s sponsorship agreement with Disney, the attraction is now in line for a refresh. The current version of Test Track, version 2.0, was introduced in December 2012 and has been well-received by visitors ever since.
