In 2023, Duluth welcomed four cruise ships that brought over 4,000 passengers to the city. These ships included the Ocean Navigator, Octantis, Polaris, and Hanseatic Inspiration. As a result of these cruises, nearly $600,000 in direct spending was contributed to the city’s economy. This spending supported a range of businesses, including shops, restaurants, transportation providers, tour operators, and small businesses in Duluth and other Great Lakes ports.

The influx of visitors had a significant impact on the local economy and helped to promote the unique appeal of Duluth as a destination. Dan Hartman, Executive Director of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, expressed enthusiasm about the influx of visitors and noted that many of them would not have come to Duluth otherwise.
