El Paso’s High School Softball and Baseball Teams Shine on April 22 with Exciting Wins and Strong Performances

Monday, April 22 was a busy day for high school softball and baseball teams in El Paso. In softball, Eastwood had an exciting victory over Socorro with a score of 3-1. Miranda Guillen earned the win after hitting a solo homerun, while Gaby DeAnda had a 2-RBI double. This win secured Eastwood the 2nd seed for the upcoming playoffs.

Meanwhile, Hanks also had a dominating victory in their game against Bel Air with a final score of 10-0. This victory earned them the 2nd seed from 2-5A for the playoffs.

In baseball action on the same day, Ysleta edged out Bel Air with a thrilling 5-4 victory. Derek Licon pitched 3 innings, allowing only two runs and striking out five batters. Leading hitters for Ysleta included Angel Flores, Moré Lozano, and Jacob Lopez, who all contributed to the team’s success.

Horizon also had a strong performance in their game against Hanks, winning with a final score of 10-2. Franklin Miller’s impressive pitching and hitting were instrumental in Horizon’s victory.

Several other baseball games took place on Monday as well. Riverside defeated Irvin with a score of 16-2 thanks to notable performances from Poblano, Bermudez, Fuentes, Lopez, Recoder, Nuñez, and Olivas. Canutillo beat Jefferson with a final score of 6-2 thanks to standout performances from I. Garza, I. Melendez, E. Fargas, D. Cossio, E
