Chris Russo, the co-founder of Elite Home Care in South Carolina, has successfully embraced electric vehicles (EVs) for his business. Two years ago, he purchased his first EV, a Ford E-Transit van that is crucial for transporting senior citizens. Since then, he has significantly expanded his fleet with many more electric vehicles. Today, almost all of his 100-vehicle operation is electrified.
Russo sees the benefits of EVs as clear as day. He estimates saving $6,500 per year per EV compared to gas-powered vehicles of the same size due to lower fuel and maintenance costs. Furthermore, with 100 chargers at his vehicle depot, his fleet can run efficiently and effectively without any concerns about charging infrastructure.
Despite challenges facing the wider market for EVs, Russo’s success highlights how some businesses are fully embracing this technology. With a strong commitment to sustainability and cost savings, these companies are demonstrating the potential for EVs to transform not just individual transportation but also commercial operations at scale.
