Jamestown’s Ella Propheter and her teammates celebrated their victory in the Section VI Division 1 flag football game against West Seneca West on Thursday. Despite facing some challenges in the air during the game, coach Steve Propheter was pleased with the team’s overall performance. Ella played a significant role in the win, rushing for 61 yards, scoring a touchdown, converting two two-point conversions, and returning an interception for a 64-yard score. The Red & Green team improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the division after a 20-6 victory.
Kaylee Leeper also contributed to the team’s success by adding 61 yards on the ground, scoring a touchdown, and a one-point conversion. She also broke up five passes and had four flag pulls. Kendall Wilson led the defense with seven flag pulls, including four sacks, while Chryssa Wahl and Abbie Brandow added four flag pulls each.
The team will return to action on Monday when they face Lancaster in their next game. In other news, it was a pitcher’s duel in the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East softball game in Forestville on Thursday. Brandon Beane, general manager of the Buffalo Bills, joked about selecting a receiver in each of the seven rounds in the NFL draft during his conversation with reporters.
