Elon Musk’s AI Warning: Unchecked Development Could Put Humanity at Risk by 2025

As a co-founder of OpenAI, Elon Musk has left the project due to concerns that its development could be detrimental to humanity. In a recent interview with Nicolai Tangen, the executive director of Norges Bank Investment Management, Musk made a concerning prediction about the future of artificial intelligence (AI).

With his extensive knowledge in the field and recent creation of xAI, Musk forecasts that AI models will surpass human intelligence by the end of 2025. He also predicts that the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI) is not far off, which he believes is even more alarming than generative AI.

Musk emphasized the rapid advancements in both hardware and software dedicated to AI, noting that the growth curve is accelerating at an unprecedented rate. His predictions align with those of Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, who believes that AI will exceed human intelligence within the next five years. However, shortages caused by demand for dedicated hardware have slowed down progress in this field.

During the interview, Musk also discussed his AI model Grok and revealed plans to release a second version in May that will outperform GPT-4. He mentioned that Grok will be offered to all X Premium subscribers as part of a strategy to boost subscriptions on his social network.

In addition to discussing advancements in AI technology, Musk emphasized its importance in terms of security. He stressed that AI systems must be as truthful as possible to ensure they can effectively manage them. Failure to prioritize truthfulness in AI programming could lead to significant challenges in handling this powerful technology.

Overall, Elon Musk’s predictions highlight the potential dangers associated with unchecked development in AI technology and underscore the need for careful consideration and responsible use when it comes to implementing these technologies on a large scale.
