EU Announces Expansion of Sanctions against Iran’s Drone Sector: A Major Shift in its Stance on the Region

On Tuesday, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, announced that the EU will work to expand existing sanctions against Iran’s drone sector. This expansion would target the supply of Iranian missiles and drones to groups in the region such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. The EU also mentioned the possibility of expanding these sanctions to include Iraq and Syria.

Israel celebrated this news as a significant step in addressing Iran’s aggressive actions in the region. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz praised the EU’s decision to adopt sanctions related to Iran’s missile project, calling it an unprecedented achievement for both Israel and the EU. Additionally, the EU intends to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.

Overall, this move by the EU marks a major shift in its stance on Iran and its role in regional instability. Israel looks forward to continued cooperation with the EU to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
