Female Shooter Killed by Police after Opening Fire in Texas Church

Off-duty officers killed a woman who opened fire with a long rifle at a mega evangelical church in Texas. The shooting took place immediately after the English service had ended and the Spanish service was about to begin. The woman fired several magazines and claimed to have a bomb, while the faithful sought shelter from the bullets.

The police evacuated the entire shopping center where the church is located after rumors spread of a second attacker. However, this turned out to be unfounded. Church televangelist Joel Osteen assured that “God is in control” and didn’t know why such an incident happened.

The police have not yet provided any information on the identity of the woman, her possible motivation or even her relationship with the child who was injured. Her car was also inspected for explosives. Lifeway Research, an association headed by the Southern Baptist Convention, found that 55% of pastors have created response plans for possible armed attacks during religious services.
