The Sacramento Kings are currently performing well, with a 6-1 record in games where De’Aaron Fox has played this season. Additionally, they have a positive differential of +13.7 points per 100 possessions when Fox is on the court. Despite this success, however, the Kings may still be one player away from becoming a legitimate threat in the West. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the team is actively seeking a star player at the trade deadline, and Lou Williams has already expressed his skepticism about Sacramento as a destination for top free agents.
While Williams may be correct that players are not always willing to move to Sacramento due to its perceived lack of appeal as a destination city, the team’s new arena and revitalized downtown area could help change that perception. Regardless, if the Kings can make a successful trade for a top player like LaVine or Siakam or Anunoby, they could potentially convince that player to stay in Sacramento long-term and help them become a true contender in the West.
