The Rhode Island College of Nursing is hosting its Spring Distinguished Lecture series, which will feature Dr. Susan Loeb from Pennsylvania State University’s Ross & Carol Nese College of Nursing. The lecture is titled “Enhancing Care of Older Adults in Prison: Research and Development of Just Care.”

Dr. Loeb is an expert in end-of-life care and the health of prison inmates. She has extensive experience teaching nursing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at various institutions. Since 2004, Dr. Loeb has been a tenured professor at Pennsylvania State University, where she also serves as the director of the college’s Ph.D. program.

Her research focuses on the health needs of older prison inmates with chronic health conditions, particularly as they approach the end of their lives. Dr. Loeb addresses the unique challenges that older inmates face in correctional facilities, such as the restrictive environment and dormitory living arrangements. She has received funding from the National Institutes of Health for multiple studies aimed at improving geriatric care in prisons.

The URI College of Nursing regularly hosts its Distinguished Lecture Series each semester, featuring prominent figures in the field of nursing. Previous speakers have included Dr. Paul Farmer, Ernest Grant, Shannon Zenk, and Nancy Redeker, among others.[/
