Exploring the Dynamics of Plant Growth: Dr. Sarah Wyatt’s ‘Growing (Plants) Beyond Gravity’

Dr. Sarah Wyatt will be the featured speaker at the final Science Café event of the spring semester on Wednesday, April 3 at 5 p.m. at The Front Room Coffeehouse in Baker University Center. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube and attendees will receive free coffee coupons while supplies last.

In her presentation titled “Growing (Plants) Beyond Gravity,” Dr. Wyatt will explore how gravity affects plant growth and development, including the positioning of leaves, stems, roots, flowers, seeds, and fruits. She will also discuss recent experiments conducted on the International Space Station that showcase her research with her students on the effects of gravity on plants.

Dr. Wyatt is a professor in the Department of Environmental and Plant Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University, where she specializes in studying molecular mechanisms of signaling in plant responses, with a focus on how plants react to gravity.

The Science Café series at Ohio University is supported by the Ohio University Research Division and the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi. For more information about the series or to reserve your spot, visit the website or contact Roxanne Malé-Brune at male-bru@ohio.edu.
