Fairmont State University’s Chelsea Collins Recognized as Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Finalist for Promoting Wellness and Mental Health in the Community

Fairmont State University’s Director of Student Health, Chelsea Collins, has been recognized as a Generation Next: 40 Under 40 finalist for her outstanding work in promoting wellness and mental health in the university community. The award ceremony held at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center on June 19 honored her for her contributions to student health and her efforts to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.

As part of her role at Fairmont State University, Collins has made significant improvements to the Student Health Center and organized initiatives such as the Stomp Out the Stigma event and the Falcon Mental Health Awareness program. She has also been instrumental in organizing campus wellness fairs that promote health and well-being among students. Collins credits her success to the lessons taught by her parents and the support of her colleagues at Fairmont State.

Collins expressed her gratitude for being recognized as a leader in West Virginia, highlighting her deep connection to the state. She views it as a privilege to contribute to the growth and well-being of the students at Fairmont State University, with the hope that they will become leaders in their own communities in the future. The award ceremony was organized by The State Journal, which aimed to acknowledge professionals in West Virginia who have had a positive impact on their industries, fields, and communities.
