Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon was ordered to report to prison by Monday after the Supreme Court denied his appeal. This comes after Bannon attempted to avoid serving a four-month sentence for defying subpoenas from the January 6 commission.
In July 2022, Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress and sentenced to four months in prison. However, US District Judge Carl Nichols suspended Bannon’s sentence while he appealed the decision. That appeal was rejected in May, leaving Bannon with no further legal avenues to pursue.
With no other options left, Nichols ordered Bannon to report to prison by July 1. The judge stated that there was no justification for continuing to delay Bannon’s sentencing and incarceration.
This marks the latest chapter in Bannon’s legal troubles stemming from his involvement in the events surrounding January 6. Despite his attempts to challenge the charges against him, Bannon will now have to face the consequences of his actions and serve his prison sentence.
