In an exclusive interview with Paris Match, French First Lady Brigitte Macron revealed that she waited ten years to marry her husband, French President Emmanuel Macron, in order to avoid causing any harm to their children. The couple first started dating when Emmanuel was 15 and Brigitte was his drama teacher.
Their relationship faced many challenges, including resistance from Emmanuel’s parents and concerns about age differences. However, the 70-year-old first lady emphasized that she made sure to put her children on the right path before marrying Emmanuel.
Despite these challenges, they eventually married in 2007 and went on to have two children together. Brigitte also had three children with her ex-husband, who passed away in 2016. All of their children are now adults.
Brigitte spoke about the importance of putting family first and how she never wanted to disrupt her children’s lives by rushing into a marriage too quickly. Her decision took 10 years to come to fruition but ultimately led her to a happy and fulfilling life with her husband as well as a successful career as First Lady of France.
