After serving as head coach at Vanderbilt for several years, the Jerry Stackhouse era ended following the 2023-24 season. During his tenure, Stackhouse compiled a 70-92 record and failed to make any NCAA Tournament appearances. However, he quickly found new opportunities in the professional ranks.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Stackhouse has been hired by Steve Kerr as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors. He will be one of two assistants on Kerr’s staff, alongside Terry Stotts who will serve as the lead assistant coach. The Warriors had to fill two vacancies on their coaching staff this offseason and chose Stackhouse for the role.
Before taking on this new opportunity with the Warriors, Stackhouse had interviewed for the head coaching position with the Charlotte Hornets but ultimately did not get hired. Prior to his time at Vanderbilt, he had coaching experience with Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies under J.B. Bickerstaff. Before transitioning into coaching, Stackhouse had a successful NBA career after playing college basketball at North Carolina and was a two-time All-Star during his playing days before retiring from the NBA in 2013.
