Marion, Illinois is abuzz with excitement as plans for a $30 million multi-use sports complex are coming to fruition. The city council and Williamson County board of commissioners recently signed a joint agreement with Oasis Sports to construct this new facility. Once completed, the complex will be able to accommodate local and traveling baseball, softball, and soccer teams.
The sports complex will be located behind the former Illinois Star Center Mall, just west of Interstate 57 in Marion. In addition to finalizing the agreement, new hotel tax ordinances were passed to help cover the financing for the project. The entire complex is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
This development is sure to be a game-changer for Marion, providing much-needed space for sports teams to compete and bringing in revenue to the area. With construction underway, residents can look forward to a state-of-the-art sports complex that will benefit the community for years to come.
