According to a report by the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union, the city has experienced an increase in small business openings this year. This growth has added to the already thriving local business scene. From a vintage boutique in Springfield to new bookstores in the urban core, 2023 has been a year of expansion for small businesses.

As the holiday shopping season approaches, businesses are preparing for Small Business Saturday. To celebrate this occasion, two new independent bookstores in Jacksonville have opened their doors: Happy Medium Books Cafe and Literary Lounge. Femme Fire Books is also marking its milestone of having a physical location after being open for a year.

Apart from bookstores, Purple Mangrove is a pre-owned and vintage clothing store that also sells beverages and plants. Sunhoney, a modern, bohemian boutique, recently opened its first storefront at Jacksonville Beach. Planet Circle opened its doors in Riverside, offering plants, home decor, and unique gifts. Greenhouse also celebrated its first anniversary in Brooklyn with a bar, coffeehouse, and shop combination.
