Greyhills Academy High School students win medals at Arizona Science and Engineering Fair for sustainable water quality project.

Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City recently showcased their impressive performance at the 2024 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair, held from April 4-6 in Tempe. During the fair, seniors Daneyah Chief and Shyla Manygoats presented their project titled “Enhancing water quality in arid regions: a sustainable approach for safe drinking water.” Their hard work and dedication paid off as they won three prestigious awards in the earth and environmental category.

Out of 383 senior contestants from across Arizona, Chief and Manygoats secured top spots, earning both medals and cash prizes for their outstanding work. Their project focused on finding innovative ways to improve water quality in arid regions, which is an essential issue in many communities. Chief and Manygoats’ research emphasized the importance of finding sustainable solutions for safe drinking water in these areas, a topic that is particularly relevant in the state of Arizona.
