President Joe Biden spent the weekend at Camp David, a family gathering that had been planned before his recent debate with former President Donald Trump. Despite concerns from some Democrats about his chances this fall, his family urged him to stay in the 2024 race. Hunter Biden, the president’s son, was especially vocal in advocating for his father to remain the party’s nominee.
Recently, Hunter Biden has become more involved in White House activities, advising his father and participating in meetings with high-level aides. According to reports from NBC News, he has even been seen speaking with other top White House staffers. Although he has visited the White House in the past, he has not typically been involved in meetings regarding the president’s work.
Despite legal troubles that have plagued him, including being convicted on felony gun charges, President Biden has continued to support him as he navigates personal challenges such as addiction. A source shared with CNN that Hunter Biden has been joining his father in meetings and calls with advisors at the White House. In fact, he stayed in Washington to spend Independence Day with his family and immediately went into speech prep for the president’s address criticizing the US Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity. White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates confirmed that Hunter Biden returned from Camp David with his father and immediately began preparing for these important events.
