Instagram is set to launch a new AI-powered chatbot program, named Creator AI, that will enable influencers to engage with their followers in a more personal and authentic manner. The platform will use artificial intelligence technology to mimic the influencer’s voice and possibly create an avatar to automatically respond to fans.
According to Ava Chen, Instagram’s director of fashion collaborations, the program is designed to help influencers with large followings stay connected with their fans while alleviating the pressure of responding to a high volume of messages and comments. Most of the messages will be sent automatically, clearly stating that they are AI-generated responses.
Content creators will have the option to select the data Meta uses to imitate their expressions and create a virtual persona to interact with fans based on the influencer’s past responses and engagement. Meta representatives have declined to comment on the specifics of the program or its potential reach, but this initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the engagement and communication channels between influencers and their followers in a more efficient and personalized manner.
