Ipswich is set to sign Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson in a club-record deal, pending a medical examination. Last season, Hutchinson made 20 starts and 24 appearances off the bench for Ipswich in the Championship. The transfer fee is reportedly around £20m, with potential add-ons of £2.5m based on performance.
Hutchinson was Ipswich’s top priority after his impressive loan spell in the Championship, where he scored 10 goals and provided six assists. This helped Ipswich achieve automatic promotion to the league under manager Kieran McKenna’s guidance. Completing this deal will benefit both clubs, as it will help Chelsea meet Premier League financial regulations.
Originally representing England up to under-19 level, Hutchinson has since switched his allegiance to Jamaica. He has made two appearances for Chelsea after transferring from Arsenal in 2022.
