Is $900 Worth the Price Difference? A Comprehensive Look at Royal Caribbean’s Icon and Wonder of the Seas Balcony Staterooms

Royal Caribbean has recently launched its two newest and largest cruise ships, Icon of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas. I was fortunate enough to stay in both of their balcony staterooms and noticed a $130 price difference per person per day. Although the pricier cabin on Icon looked more modern, it lacked functionality and comfort compared to Wonder.

Staterooms with balconies are a popular cruise cabin category, providing guests with the opportunity to enjoy the sea breeze from their room. However, not all cabins with private outdoor spaces are created equal, even on two new mega-ships owned by the same cruise line. The $900 price gap between the cabins on Icon and Wonder of the Seas highlights that more money does not always mean a better experience. As a journalist, I recommend that guests carefully consider their needs and preferences before booking their cabin on one of these ships. With careful planning, they can find the perfect cabin that suits their needs while cruising with Royal Caribbean.
