Local Health Officials Report 37 Casualties in Israeli Strikes at Rafah Refugee Camp

In response to the Hamas militants’ incursion on October 7th, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the abduction of at least 250 individuals, Israel launched a military assault on the Gaza Strip. The ongoing war has led to the deaths of more than 28,000 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated in an interview that there are still 132 Israeli hostages being held in Gaza and that there is enough evidence to justify the ongoing war in the region. However, Hamas-run Aqsa Television quoted a senior Hamas leader on Sunday, who warned that any Israeli ground assault in the region of Rafah would “blow up” the hostage-exchange negotiations.

Egypt has also issued a warning of “dire consequences” if Israel proceeds with a potential military assault on Rafah, which is located near its border. The Egyptian foreign ministry emphasized the need for all international and regional efforts to unite in order to prevent the city of Rafah from being targeted.
