Israeli-Iranian Conflict: The Fatal Attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus and Its Consequences

On Monday, the Israeli army spokesperson made a statement confirming that those killed in the April 1 strike against the Iranian consulate in Damascus were “terrorists” who posed a threat to Israel. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari explained that the casualties included members of the Quds Force, Hezbollah, and Iranian aides – individuals involved in terrorism against Israel.

The attack destroyed the Iranian consulate and resulted in 16 fatalities, with seven members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps among them, including two senior officers. While Iran and Syria accused Israel of carrying out the attack, Israel never officially confirmed its involvement. In response to the strike, Iran launched a significant missile and drone attack on Israel from its territory, which was intercepted by Israeli air defense systems.

Israel successfully intercepted most of the projectiles during this attack, with only minor damage occurring at the Nevatim military base in southern Israel.
