Jim Irsay’s Health Confirmed, Denies Overdose Claim Amid Draft Speculation

Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, has recently reassured fans and members of the Colts nation that he is in good health and firmly in control of the franchise. Irsay has spoken out to clarify details surrounding a medical episode that occurred late last year. While police and paramedics were called to his home in Carmel on December 8, where it was reported that Irsay was treating a serious hematoma resulting from a leg injury. Despite rumors suggesting a possible overdose, Irsay has denied this claim.

Following surgery on his back and leg, Irsay had to stay in the hospital for recovery. Although he has been home for some time now, he will be unable to attend the team headquarters for this week’s NFL Draft. However, he plans to remotely participate using technology to be present in the draft room and provide input on player selections.

The Colts hold the No. 15 overall pick and are not ruling out the possibility of moving up to select Marvin Harrison Jr., the son of Colts Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison. Nonetheless, Irsay acknowledges the challenges of such a move due to the draft capital that would need to be given up. Despite missing a public event due to a serious respiratory illness, Irsay emphasized that his health issues have been ongoing for years and are not related to rumors of overdoses or other speculations.
