In recent news, JMU football released its spring roster and three returning players are listed. The team is set to benefit defensively with the return of two key players, Abi Nwabuoku-Okonji and Taurus Jones, who both entered the transfer portal in the offseason. Additionally, Solomon Vanhorse is also on the roster after suffering a season-ending injury in 2023.
Nwabuoku-Okonji, who was hindered by an injury in 2023, showed promise as a starting defensive end and is expected to play an important role in the upcoming 2024 season. Jones, who led the JMU in tackles in 2022, is an All-Sun Belt caliber linebacker when healthy. Both players are expected to play crucial roles in defense next year.
Vanhorse is another valuable addition to the team’s roster. Known for his speed and versatility, he can contribute as a weapon in the return game and also as a running back and slot receiver. The team is excited to welcome back these veteran players and expects them to play an important role in the upcoming season.
