Kajima Corporation Leads the Way in Low-Carbon Concrete Construction for 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo Dome

Kajima Corporation is set to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by a significant margin through the use of low-carbon concrete for the construction of a concrete dome at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. The company will employ a type of low-carbon concrete that reduces emissions by 70% compared to traditional building methods. The dome, which will be constructed in the West Gate Zone of the expo venue, is expected to serve as an exhibition space on environmental education.

The construction of the dome is scheduled to commence in April and be completed in November 2024. Standing 5.45 meters in height with an oval shape and a diameter of 23 by 18 meters, the dome will be made from reinforced concrete. By utilizing low-carbon concrete along with a technology that captures CO2 during manufacturing, Kajima hopes to achieve substantial reductions in CO2 emissions.
