The lithium boom fueled by the electromobility industry is creating a demand for new job profiles in the mining sector. With vast lithium reserves, Argentina is a key player in the production of this strategic resource for various industries. The country, along with Bolivia and Chile, makes up the “lithium triangle” with 46% of the world’s lithium reserves, as per the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
According to Randstad management experts, there are nine key job profiles in the lithium mining industry. These include industrial engineers, geologists, electromechanical engineers, chemical engineers, environmental studies graduates, project managers, probe controllers, and various technicians specializing in fields related to lithium mining and processing. These profiles are crucial for the efficient extraction, processing, and sustainability of lithium mining projects.
The increasing demand for specialized professionals and technicians reflects the evolving nature of lithium mining projects and their impact on the Argentine economy. Lithium mining is significantly impacting employment opportunities in provinces such as Salta, Jujuy, and Catamarca. Over 50 lithium mining projects are currently underway in these provinces.
