Local Black Business Owner Betrayed by Trump Campaign’s Surprise Barbershop Event: Atlanta News First’s Exclusive Interview with Rocky Jones

Atlanta News First spoke with Rocky Jones, a Black business owner in the city, who expressed his shock and disappointment after the Trump campaign held an event at his barbershop. Rocky’s Barbershop has always been about serving its community and providing good conversations, not about politics.

Jones said that he had never invited political events to his barbershop before, so he was taken aback when prominent Republicans packed into the shop the day before the presidential debate in Atlanta. To make matters worse, former President Trump even called in during the event, leaving Jones feeling betrayed.

Days before the debate, Jones had been under the impression that he was hosting a small Black business roundtable. However, he never heard from any Trump campaign representative or received any mention of it being a political event. He had no idea what was going on until he saw all those people packing into his shop.

The timing of the event did not initially raise any flags for Jones because he thought it was a community-focused event. But now that he knows better, he urges other business owners to be more cautious when receiving similar requests from people they trust. He wants them to do proper research before agreeing to host any events that could potentially harm their businesses or reputation.

Although Jones did receive compensation for closing his barbershop for the event, he is willing to return it because he doesn’t want any association with such an unsavory group like the Trump campaign. Despite reaching out to them for a response, Atlanta News First could not get a reply in time for their report on this matter.
