The LSU Baseball Fall World Series at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field saw the Purple and Gold face off in Game 2 on Sunday. The Purple emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, thanks to the combined efforts of right-handers Christian Little and Aiden Moffett. Little, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., struck out seven batters on two hits in five innings, while Moffett, a sophomore from Mount Olive, Miss., gave up no runs on no hits with three strikeouts in the final two innings.

The Purple took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning as rightfielder Jake Brown lined an RBI single and shortstop Michael Braswell III lifted a sacrifice fly. Despite tying the contest in the top of second with a run-scoring single from centerfielder Mic Paul, the Gold could not keep up with the Purple’s offense. Junior left-hander Justin Loer led the Gold’s pitching effort by recording seven strikeouts in 2.1 relief innings.

With the six-week fall practice period concluded, LSU will open their 2024 season on Friday, February 16 against VMI at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
