Man Arrested for Carrying Replica Weapon in Public: Lesson Learned on Staying Safe and Legal with Stress Relievers

A man from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England was recently arrested for carrying a replica of Link’s Master Sword from the video game “The Legend of Zelda” with a real blade in public. Anthony Bray, the man in question, was sentenced to four months in prison. According to a Warwickshire Police report, officers spotted Bray walking down the street with the Master Sword on June 8. The sword, although it was marketed as a toy, had a real blade that violated UK law.

Bray informed officers that he had purchased the replica Master Sword online with the intention of using it as a stress reliever to keep his hands busy. However, simply carrying a blade in public was a breach of the law, regardless of his intentions. The Warwickshire Police Sergeant stated, “You can get stress toys that aren’t six-inch blades. You can avoid walking down the street with them in plain sight. With a bit more awareness, Bray could have avoided contact with us entirely.”

In addition to the prison sentence, Bray was fined £154 (around €180). This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being mindful of local laws and regulations when carrying objects in public spaces.
