Matt Corral launched from Patriots’ exempt/left squad listing

The New England Patriots have formally parted methods with quarterback Matt Corral. On Monday, Corral was waived from the exempt/left squad listing, in line with the transaction wire. The Patriots had claimed Corral after he was waived by the Panthers throughout roster reductions. Initially, Corral turned the second quarterback on New England’s 53-man roster, alongside Mac Jones, because the workforce had beforehand waived Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham. Nevertheless, Corral was positioned on the left squad listing on September 9. Since then, Zappe has rejoined the 53-man roster as Jones’ backup.

Corral, who was chosen within the third spherical of the 2022 NFL Draft from Ole Miss, needed to sit out his complete rookie season as a result of a foot harm. Moreover, the Patriots introduced the discharge of quarterback Ian E book from their follow squad. This leaves New England with Jones and Zappe as their solely designated quarterbacks on the workforce.
