Meadow Montessori School Holds Unique Science Fair: Celebrating Critical Thinking and Creativity Through Scientific Inquiry Skills

The Monroe News reported that seventeen Meadow Montessori School students received ribbons in the school’s 2024 Science Fair. The event is unique as it is the only school in the county continuing the tradition of hosting a school-wide science fair. Previously, the Monroe County Intermediate School District also organized a county-wide science fair. Meadow Montessori has been holding its Science Fair annually since 1986, with students from kindergarten through eighth grade participating in the event.

Each student presents their project in front of their class before displaying it for the entire school. Four judges reviewed each project and awarded prizes to the top three in five different age groupings. The judges included Sarah Howard, Cale Piedmonte-Lang, Stephanie Slat, and Frank Tryrbon. Meg Fedorowicz, who serves as Science Fair coordinator, emphasized that the event is a celebration of learning where students can share their work and utilize critical thinking skills through scientific methodology.

Students who received ribbons for each age group were Zayn LaHart, Jaxton Thurwanger, and Luka Madrid from kindergarten; Calvin Cunningham, Lennon Beamsley, Teddy Felder, Cash Guy, and Maximus Humphreys from first and second grades; Jase Burbo, Etta Manley, and Madison Smith from third and fourth grades; David Schall, Henry Wolbert, and Landon Warshefski from fifth and sixth grades; Jack Hopps-Zunk, Blake McDonald, and Juni Galbraith from seventh and eighth grades. Each student presented a unique project at the Science Fair showcasing their scientific inquiry skills.

The Meadow Montessori School’s Science Fair highlights how students can apply scientific methodologies to solve real-world problems creatively.
